Hello, I’m Padmaja Lakkavarapu, did Masters in Electronics and Computers and passionate designer, Self taught coder and Great project manager.

To me, design is a problem solving activity. As a designer, I understand that the perfect design not only involves visual aesthetics, but even more importantly, an interface that functions well. This requires a deep understanding of human behavior and psychology – the outcome of which greatly impacts the overall experience of the product, regardless of the platform. 

I personally enjoy working on projects that require both strategy as well as visual design. I love working on problems from the ideation stage and seeing them through completion through pixel-perfect designs. I dream to become a domain expert in my field with being able to move among the process from user research to designing to shipping and analyzing results.

As a Project Manager I don’t just go through the motions. I care about communication and the opinions of the parties involved. They are also sufficiently self-aware to know how their communication is received by those stakeholders.

As a Designer One of the biggest challenges to user-centered design is comprehending how users think and act in a given situation; the assumption that users will approach and solve problems in the same way Designers and Developers do is a major pitfall, even leading to the assumption that interaction problems are the fault of users, or the failure of users to follow instructions. UX Design means working for users—not the other way around. Understanding how users think and feel is the first step.

Im one of the gifted that my  left side of the brain is more analytical, logical and practical, while the right side is more passionate, imaginative and creative. I can code the website and a quick learner to adopt latest UI technologies.

Real World Experiencer

VBrick, Herndon VA — UX UI Lead/Product Designer–Feb 2016 – PRESENT

Was the Lead designer in creating the VBrick core product. Helped implement Video Conferencing Platform with Artificial Intelligence, online video editing, analytics dashboards, and custom branding. Created all sketches, wireframes, and mockups to communicate user flows and interactions to stakeholders, engineer, and product teams. Built the Vbrick app and redesigned the company website.

Network for Good, Washington DC — UX UI Lead – Aug 2013 – Nov 2015

Lead designer for NFG core Donate now product and App, Goal of this project is a mobile user-friendly interface to raise funds (iPhone, iPad). Re-designing developed Adaptive User Interfaces and migration 3 databases. Mobile friendly using the latest technologies.

Worked on a Job portal for people with disabilities by following Section 508 and UL Standards, Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) and testing using 508 and UI Testing tools, JAWS.

Worked on Discovery Media sites, redesigning of ScienceChannel.com, TLC.com and DiscoveryStore.com Account Budgeting System provides a platform to keep track of the accounts, budget and revenue of Advertiser Agencies to perform merging or closing of existing accounts, opening of new accounts and transferring between the accounts..
